Alpha Hookah bowls are glazed ceramic, fired in the brand's own 4000+ sqm plant in St. Petersburg. That's the same facility where they assemble their flagship hookahs, so it's the same QC team handling the bowl line. The glaze can be matte or glossy. Either way, it seals the pores, so the bowl picks up very little molasses and doesn't carry flavor from one session into the next. That matters if you rotate tobaccos often. Current glaze options are Matte Black, Matte White, Blue, Red, Green, and Yellow.

Alpha Hookah bowls cover a wide range of tobaccos, but it depends on which shape you pick. Race Phunnel (15–20 g, single center hole) holds molasses inside the bowl. That's what you want with wet dark leaf blends, where you don't want juice draining into the stem. Wave Phunnel is taller, with a fast even heat from the top. A good match for thick syrupy mixes and longer sessions. Vortex Bowl uses side holes for a different draw profile and pairs well with lighter blends and bigger clouds. The glazed interior stays neutral across all three, so switching styles between sessions is easy.

It comes down to your session style and what you smoke. Race Phunnel (15–20 g) is the forgiving one. Packs easily, works with both lighter and darker leaf, and it's the easiest entry point if you're new to phunnels. Wave Phunnel has the taller body and that quick top-down heat profile. You want it for heavy syrupy tobaccos and sessions north of 90 minutes. Vortex Bowl with its side hole layout leans toward lighter blends and aggressive cloud production. If this is your first Alpha bowl, start with Race Phunnel. Least fussy of the three.

Let the bowl cool down completely before you put it anywhere near water. Running cold water over hot ceramic is the fastest way to crack it. Warm water alone is enough. The glaze doesn't absorb molasses or flavor, so a quick rinse handles most of the residue. If something is stuck on, use a soft-bristle brush. Skip wire scrubbers and harsh detergents, they'll scratch the glaze over time. Store the bowl dry, away from anything with a strong smell. Don't leave leftover tobacco sitting between sessions, the molasses breaks down and you'll taste it in your next pack.
