Pour water into the vase so that the lower part of the shaft's tube is submerged approximately 1–2 cm. Connect the shaft to the vase, attach the hose, and place the bowl filled with tobacco — loosely enough for air to flow freely. Cover with the HMD. Light three coconut coals in advance on an electric coal burner — never with a lighter — and wait until they are glowing evenly. Place them in the HMD and wait approximately 5–7 minutes before taking the first puff.
